A massive iceberg that is about 2,000 metres wide has been spotted floating off the coast of Norway.
The iceberg has been drifting along the coast for weeks, according to the Norwegian Maritime Administration.
“It’s a big iceberg and it’s moving very slowly.
It’s about two metres in length, and we’re expecting it to be moving very quickly over the next few days,” Lars Hansen, a Norwegian sea ice expert told Reuters news agency.”
We’re very, very concerned about it,” he added.
Norwegian coastguard said in a statement the iceberg had been spotted on Monday morning and that it was expected to arrive in the Arctic Ocean on Wednesday.
It is estimated that there are about 8,000 square kilometres of sea ice around the North Pole.
